  • Resource for your Next WordPress (Theme) Site

I don’t know How I left this Post pending in draft, While starting another project was searching for this post, and it was it Draft. In Jan 2018, when I was done with #WPMeta Website, I drafted this one.

Here are some resources I used to code #WPMeta Website.

    1. Underscores (_s) – Starter theme
Underscore is starter theme with all latest standards of WordPress system. Components provide the choice of multiple structures.

    2. Coolers – Color Scheme Generator
Not Being Designer, I have a bad taste in colour combinations. Last time I was coding a theme, I used Kuler by Adobe, pretty complicated to use. Coolers.co, way to easy compared to Kuler.

    3. Mixfont – Font Combination generator
Fonts combination is another UI part where I lack a lot. Mixfont is easy to go, test multiple Google fonts with each other.

    4. Fontello – Icon fonts generator
Fontello is open source icon fonts generator. Remember the moment when you load font awesome library just for two icons. You are wasting your & users bandwidth. Just select your desired icons, build

Do let me know what tools you like to use for your custom theme development.

  • Moments I love to capture at any WordCamp

I’ve attended 21 WordCamp in India since 2013, Campers have spotted me with Camera in most of WordCamps, Sometimes as Photographer Volunteer or as an attendee who uses a camera as an excuse to peek into the different tracks or to escape Boring Sessions.

Since then many serial WordCamper started calling me as UnOfficial Photographer of WordCamps in India. My Camera has given me recognition in Indian WordPress Community, I can’t ignore that part.

I’m writing this blog post for all those who love to Capture Moments at any Conference. if you find anything new on your Capture list, please do share in Comment. Here is the list of Items I prefer to Capture in any conference

  • Developing WordPress Frontend with Chrome Developer Tools

This is a proposed outline for WordCamp Mumbai 2018 Speaker Application.

I’m yet to post about my talks at WordCamp Kanpur and Ahmedabad, both are in the draft along with a long list of heading items that need detailing. So Instead of putting topics in the draft and piling them, decided to publish and continue as a series of Blog posts.

    Intended Audience: Designers / Developers
Level of Understanding: Beginner / Intermediate

The audience may already be familiar with the basic features of the Chrome Developer Tools: the DOM inspector, styles panel, and JavaScript console. But there are a number of lesser-known features that can dramatically improve workflows.

This session will be demo based, will cover DevTools demo around following Topics:

    • Console Tricks for Debugging
    • Event Listeners
    • Accessibility checks
    • Workspaces for quick local development
    • Network throttling for testing your web on low-speed users
    • Performance tuning of a web page
    • and some tricks from Animation, Sensors & Rendering Tabs of DevTools.

Whether stepping through JavaScript, Debugging CSS, Testing REST API calls, or auditing page performance, the window of Chrome’s DevTools is there to help.

Whether I’ll be speaking or not at WordCamp Mumbai is not sure as its always hard for Organizers to Select sessions amongst so many awesome topics maintaining Attendees Flow of learning. I’ll make sure to post these tricks here on my blog.

    [Update – 06-04-2018]

I had One hour Session at WordCamp Mumbai 2018, it was great experience for me, Thanks to Organizing team and Attendees. I’m yet to write detailed post about these tricks but you can find code demonstrated at my Github Repo. Please refer Notepad Point.txt (it has the flow we used in session)and Codes folder (for actual codes).

  • My Must have add-ons list for Browsers

Wish you all a very Prosperous Happy New Year,

There are a couple of resolutions on My plate for this year. More writing is one of them. Every new day starts with Browser, So starting this year first blog post regarding Browsers.

Its often asked what’s your favourite browser. I prefer to use Chrome and Firefox simultaneously. Firefox for mailing and development purpose. And Chrome for social and surfing purpose. Its nothing like chrome is bad for development, just that I started development with Firefox before chrome was born. Thus Development still goes on with Firefox.

So here is the List of Browser Add-ons / Extension for our favourite Browsers.

    #1 – LastPass
Password manager that makes your life easier for generating, storing, sharing a password. For mobile, you might need a premium account. Rest is free for desktop apps.

    #2 – uBlock Origin
An Open Source Adblocker to give you better surfing experience. Neutrality and Transparency are always important, with uBlock Origin, everything is transparent on Github.

    #3 – Grammarly
I remember the comment from some distant relative of Mine in 2008, to improve grammatical mistakes. Grammarly is Addon that helps me now.

I can’t imagine a browser without above three add-ons. What are your must-have add-ons for a browser? do share in comments or tweet me @fitehal

  • Nagpur is turning to be happening place!

Nagpur is turning to be happening place!

Nagpur seems to be happening place to me!

Yes, it’s true if you are Nagpurkar who left the city for work, you remember the city as senior citizen paradise. Nothing “happening” thing happens here.

Weekends in winter that I remember usually start with Cricket at Tilak Nagar ground or a Morning walk in VRCE, followed by discussions at Dharampeth Coffeehouse (miss this place) / Gokul Vrindavan. Daytime is spent with family or watching some movie or TV Series or some long drive with friends towards the forest or waterside nearby. Evenings mostly ends at Saoji places or trying some different type of food. Combination of some of above activities and it’s pretty much same every time. Whereas in Pune (My Second home), there’s a lot to learn on weekends and many places to discover.

Past few days were held up with heavy travel plans, travelled around 10 cities in past 40 days. The experience was amazing. I’ll keep this post about Nagpur, not about my travel experience, will publish another post about WordCamp Nashik, WordCamp Ahmedabad & CloudBazaar.

Returned to the city last weekend, and I’m surprised to see so many activities going in the city. There was CKP Food Festival on last weekend, it was the heavenly place for foodies, around 52 types of CKP delicacies.

Nagpur Techies Meetup – Kickstarting Your Agile Journey

Finally, after a decade I met the Duo Sameer and Meghana. Their journey is pretty amazing. They conducted a half-day workshop about Agile methodology. Explaining how Agile software development method can be used to improve the performance of individuals and teams. Right from the roots of Agile Manifesto to Scrum and Kanbans in current scenarios of attending techies. A lot more to learn from them, looking forward to Techies hangout session.

It was well spent Thursday afternoon, YES Thursday afternoon that too with 20+ Techies, Not bad for the change.
That’s not all, weekend has lot more to offer

Its been 3 years working in Clinical Trials domain, the amount of knowledge shared at this conference is unmeasurable. Around 190+ Paper Presentations, 100+ Speakers. This is altogether new level of a conference I’m witnessing, glad this year it is hosted in Nagpur.

Too many conferences for learning, there are some fun events too.

Third MotoJoJo Gathering on 18th Evening
Motojojo gatherings are the best place to spend the evening fill up with Nostalgia of the road & connect with people who love travelling just as much as you. With the Lovely singer-songwriters/musicians who’ll share songs, you’ve never heard before. Along with some super awesome story-tellers & spoken word poets and all of this wrapped in a sense of freedom and love.

    Hackerspace Nagpur’s First Meetup – 18th Afternoon
Yes! hackerspaces in Nagpur 😉 Good to hear that right?
Nikhil with his 3-year-old Daughter who goes wow! at the sight of mechanical toys, In this first meetup plans to take us from setting basic Arduino / AVR toolchain on Mac / Linux machines and go ahead with controlling a servo or a stepper motor.

That’s not all, I heard about some overnight hackathon in planning. its good to hear, specifically in the city which sleeps at 11 PM.

Too much for a single week, I’ll prefer to spend the Sunday resting at home and trying new food joints like The Waffle Boss Co.

Life in Nagpur is changing. Nagpur is turning to be happening place at least for me!

  • [Fix][EasyEngine] Downloading WordPress [Fail] Oops Something went wrong !!

If you are the EasyEngine user, and facing Downloading WordPress [Fail] Error on creating a new website, then here is the reasoning and quick fix to solve the issue.

Here is the blog post on the official EasyEngine blog about how to fix it and the causes for same.

While official post recommends using the nightly build of WP CLI, I prefer avoiding Nightly release. Just remove nightly arg from mentioned command, it will be like following

    sudo wp –allow-root cli update

It will update WP CLI to the stable one. The default version of WP CLI in EasyEngine I was using was 0.24.1, on the update, now it is version 1.4.0.

Hope EE4.0 upcoming major release will be using latest binaries of dependencies.

    Till then Happy WordPressing 🙂

  • WordCamp Bhopal – WWWP5k And ViaLux

This Weekend had many things happening around. WordCamp Bhopal and ViaLux Anomaly in Mumbai were on the same day 24th Sept 2016. I was supporting offline to my team in my Second Ingress Anomaly. The result is here Mumbai is Blue.

    screenshot_3

For detail, here’s the Mumbai scorecard.

WordCamp Bhopal was my first WordCamp in Central India. All camps those I attended were in West Part of India. (I missed Jabalpur and Delhi). Despite living in Nagpur(Center of India), I’ve never been to Bhopal. I hardly discover the Madhya Pradesh. WordCamp Bhopal and #WWWP5k was a great plan to explore the unknown city.

Train Journey Begin around 1 PM. I reached Bhopal by 7.30 PM.  Mobile Networking took me some time to figure out that Vodafone Calling is working fine and Airtel’s Internet is working in Bhopal. It seems mobile network is some big-time issue in Capital of Madhya Pradesh.

The initial plan for #wwwP5k walking in Lake Capital Bhopal was to complete Bhopal Religious mission and some Portal upgrades in Bhopal with @Maximus175. Due to some medical emergency, he was not available, so aborted the Mission, just upgraded portals. After upgrading Portals, I joined Milesweb Team at Lake Side Ashoka’s Thus the Urban Socialite at Bada Talab.

Photo by Chinmay at Bada Talab

Lovely Food at beautiful Location, We talked about city & community activities.

    Day 2 Bhopal.

Day Started little late at 7.30, so we rushed toward the WC Venue.

Skipping the Bheed Bhad Joined the WordPress India Community people for Chai Pani.

The day was great filled with Talks From Puneet, Alex, Aditya, Rahul, Nirav, Swapnil, Amit, Saurabh.

Rahul shared how his team solves the Vicious circle. Good to know how rtCamp managed it.

Apart from talks, it was a great pleasure meeting people from SwiftIdeas, InkThemes, ThemeIsle. Various Conversation about themes, development strategies continued throughout the day.

I was disappointed to know students at LNCT do not know that “Nagpur was Capital of Madhya Pradesh”. 🙁
Nagpur has its charm. At the end of day Announcement from LNCT College was the Great. An official Meetup Place in Bhopal.

Overall WCBhopal was a great day spent. Meanwhile, Amit and I were monitoring ViaLux Activities in Intel Map & Telegram. We enjoyed the winning moment.

I started my return journey, with Chattisgarh Express at 7 PM with some Delhi University geology students visiting MP for Educational Tour. I was surprised to see their knowledge about wildlife. Conversion continued the late night. Reached Nagpur By 3 AM. This was the Time I started with my #WWWP5K Walk playing Ingress from Station to Famous Zero Mile Stone of India, so no photos of #WWWP5K Walk.

Aditya Picked me up From Zero Mile, we had some next week planning on Jalebi Poha at Shankar Nagar and ended into Bed.

I’m still exchanging thoughts with new connects from Bhopal, I look forward to meeting them in WordCamp Nashik

  • Recovering MySQL or MariaDB from .frm File

This happened to me today, I found old project codes without SQL dump. Just want to check if project is still reusable. Following are the two ways you can recover database schema from FRM file.

    Using mysqlfrm utility by oracle
This is pretty handy command line utility from MySQL Team. Check out the official Documentation.

    Online version of mysqlfrm
This is not official one, but TwinDB team created Database Recovery portal to generate schema from .idb and .frm files. Must be using mysqlfrm utility behind the UI.

This log is for future reference purpose, If you have any other tool, please mention it in comments.
