At last Google has entered the open source browser market. It’s a beta launch today, yet to be fully released. Google Chrome is Google’s open source browser with components from Apple’s WebKit and Mozilla’s Firefox. This browser will also include a JavaScript virtual machine called V8 to boost performance. The browser has an address bar with auto-completion features called ‘omnibox’ and many upcoming features.
But I wonder — Google was promoting Mozilla’s Firefox via AdSense and other means, so how did they suddenly decide to launch their own browser?
I looked at the images of Chrome — they don’t fascinate me at all. But who knows, there might be some good things in there, like the comic book they launched before the app launch. I think this is the start of a war against Microsoft products. An image from Chetan’s blog made me think that. Well, I am waiting for the launch.
